Philo
Judaeus (20 B.C.E.- 45 or 50 C.E.) was an Alexandrian Jewish philosopher
who synthesized Greek philosophy with Judaism by means of an allegorical
interpretation of scripture. He was the first theologian to distinguish
between the knowability of God's existence and the unknowability of his
essence.
