The "Green Man" of the Qur'an in Ireland and Scotland

Hello Yakov,

I can't resist noting the "Green Man" comments just received.  The next Day of the Green Man in Ireland (March 17th) will occur within the Gateway of the Sun, the time between the two Blue Moons which we are now in, the time when the Impossible becomes Possible, the last occurring at the end of March.  I have gathered that green is the colour of the Living Spirit, and regret that there appears to be only a very small Jewish community left in Ireland at present.   I would be curious
to know if they had themselves made any connection between the Green Man of Ireland and that of their own heritage.  The two anciently were closely linked I believe, with Egyptian roots also (this was a land rich in gold and other metals and a Phoenician settlement has been located on the south coast of County Cork).   There are still a lot of words showing common origin with some of the languages of the Mediterranean in the old Gaelic.  The Dragon has also been a deeply embedded symbol to the people of these islands and there is some belief that St-George = Dragon, that is, he is a manifestation of the Dragon's Mind.

To maintaining balance in all things,

Liz

I was speaking the other day with a Scotsman and the conversation went somehow, via the mention of the traffic light's (!) "green man" to what this guy called 'The Celtic Green Man". What he was refering to was to a figure that appeares in churches, such as the one at his parent's hometown, somewhere near Edinbrough. It is a 'green man' which his body is composed entirely of various plants and vegtables. According to this guy, these churches were connected somehow to the knight templars. We are reminded of course of the (alleged?) connection between this order of knights and the radical Ismailis of Hassan-i-Sabbath's Alamut.

Liz, Is this the same green man you were refering to?  Can someone help convert the above hearsay to something more
'solid'?

Thanks,

Eylon
