Integral Yoga - Ascending-Descending

The most profoubnd element of the Integral Transformation, found in Sri Aurobindo's Integral Yoga, and also, intriguingly, in Lurianic Kabbalah is the theme of the Ascent to Higher degrees of Realisation and consquent drawing down or descent of those Realities into physical reality.

According to Sri Aurobindo, in his Life Divine, once realisation is attained, there is a choice beyond Liberation or even further stages of transformation. Chooising the latter leads to the ascent to higher realities, and the descent or bringing down of that higher Light, Force, and Consciousness, establishing it in one's own being. Continuing in this way leads to various progressive stages of Realisation. Sri Aurobindo gives the sequence Higher mind, Illumined Mind, Intuitive Mind, Overmind and finally Supermind. If the latter can be brought down, that is Supramentalisation (Higher Divinisation), which makes possible the transformation of the universe.
