The Middle Intermediate Zone. At this level the center of gravity has moved from the individual personality or surface being to the transcendent. The result is that the effect of the awakening or enlightenment experience is much more marked, and the person in question abides in this transcendent consciousness. They no longer identify with the old personality, they are not a person having an experience (as in the Near Intermediate Zone) but truely are that Experience. And things that got the the little surface personality worked up; they are truly beyond that. Nevertheless there is still an element of desire and delusionism, and it may happen, if there is not sufficient purity, that the power of the Intermediate zone will cause this to inflate, causing serious problems of addiction to sex, drugs, etc. It is likely, even very common, that a person at this level may think they are doing the right thing when they are indulging in their desires. This does not always happen, and there are others who can resiude at this level without harm. So in some cases gurus at this level may be swallowed up by higher or lower forces, in other instances they have the purity and sincerity to interact with others without going astray.
Some possible distinguishing characteristics:
positive: experience of the transcendent, egolessness, a profound presence that is very alluring to others, constant abiding in an enlightened state, not getting flustered if people criticise you (because that level of ego has been transcended), sense of sensitivity and love, the dance of the divine.
negative: intermediate zone narcissism (identification of finite self with deities), desire, addiction,
Possible examples: Muktananda?, Osho?, Papaji, Adi Da, Gangaji
