In Dr. Sami Makarem's book " The Doctrine of the Ismailis", he explains al-Kirmani's ideology about the 10 Intellects:
"Al-Kirmani outlines this esoteric hierarchy of the World of Religion by giving the function of each of the ten consignees and his corresponding homologue in both the Intellectual World and the physical World. They are:
1. The conveyer of the Message, or the Proclaimer (an-natiq). His function is to procalim the revelation (al-tanzil). He corresponds to the First Intellect and to the sphere of spheres.
2. The Foundation (al-asas). He is so called because he is the foundation of the esoteric interpretation of the revelation (at-tawil). This interpretation reveals the inner knowledge of the revelation (ilm al-batin) which is the true meaning of the divine Message. He corresponds to the Second Intellect, i.e the Inclusive Soul, and to the spshere of the fixed stars.
3. The Imam. His function is to carry on this inner knowledge and guide the Community along its line. He corresponds to the Third Intellect and to the sphere of Saturn." etc
He has also explained the quality of the first Intellect as "The First Originated Being":
"By thus knowing himself, a light says al-Kirmani, illuminated and radiated fom him. This radiation of Light is what is meant by "emanation" (inbi'ath). This light that radiated from him is what is called the First Emanating Being (almunbai'ith al-awwal). It is the first to emanate from the First Intellect, hence it is second to him. That is why it is also called the Second Intellect."
I was curious to know if there was any correlation between the 10 Sefirot and the "intellects" being explained by al-Kirmani, the Fatimid Dai to Mawlana al-Hakim Bi Amrillah. circa 1021 C.E.
