I have read some special scholarly literature about the Knights Templars. All serious scholars have one and the same opinion: they were not guilty of any religious crimes, or heresy at all. And king of France Philippe IY arrested them only to confiscate the money of the Order which was the richest banker of Europe. Therefore Baphometh (Bafometh) was an invention of the royal lowers and inquisitors. Even the semantics of this name is unknown (or it is very obscure). Some scholars suppose that it is corrupted name of the Moslem prophet "Muhammad" (or Magometes in the medieval Romanized form).
