Prakriti
In this is the lowest grade of being, the level of non-self or object (prakriti).
This is the state of the reincarnating being (sakala, jivaatma)
which is under the sway of karma (law of reaction) and avidya
(metaphysical ignorance). This comes about because the connection
with the authentic Self, which is non-dual consciousness, has been lost.
Both Samkhya and Kashmir
Shaivism describe the unfolding of prakriti (psycho-physical "nature'
or "matter" - both terms are unsatisfactory) from it's original state,
in terms of an emanation
of tattwas (principles,
evolutes).
