This page is something of an oxymoron. The sort of people who I am looking for for this community will not need rules. Rules are not needed when spiritual guidance is from Within.

Nevertheless, rules have to be stated, because otherwise incompatable people may want to become involved. This is not to criticise them, as there are already many other alternative communities where they would and already do fit in. But I'm talking about an alternative to the standard alternative, a drug-free alternative.

The purpose of rules is to discourage people who only live in their outer being. If you need rules, if things have to be enforced, it means that you have not the required awakening of consciousness to just naturally live in a spiritual way. You may be a perfectly wonderful person in every other way; far spiritually superior to me for example. I'm not meaning to criticise, or to be superior, because everyone has their own path of development. It is just that in this particular area, there is a particular stage where a lifestyle is chosen not because of what som,e holy book or guru says, or because society or the church says it, but because these things are just the way one spontaneously lives one life in any case.

Because all these sort of things, like dislike of frittering away one's days in an alcohol or drug-induced haze, a sense of sacredness and empathy for all life, which means that you cannot harm any other beings, not even insects, a vegetarian lifestyle, a sense of deep grief at the destruction of the Earth through human greed and arrogance and selfishness, all these sort of things arise spontaneously. Someone who is in touch with their Inner Divine or "Psychic Being" (Sri Aurobindo) does not have to take drugs to get "high" for example. It is not a case of saying, all stern faced, "no drugs here". It is that when you have that consciousness, why do you want to fill your body with toxins and cloud your mind and muddy your aura when you have the innate bliss and delight of contact with the Divine? People would automatically and integrally live according to a lifestyle and interpresonal relations and interactions. And the same goes for other things, such as respect for even the humblest lifeforms, or not imposing one's ego on others
